Concerning Iran

I’ve attempted to reserve judgment on the Iranian election for a later date, and have combed through at least a dozen news articles from three separate sources discussing the subject. After a few days of this, I have reached my conclusion:

I call bullshit.

Not a new revelation, I know, but it needed to be said. What makes me angriest is not the actual fraud - upsetting as it may be - so much as the fact that they obviously thought that they could get away with it so blatantly. From what I read, they completely broke away from all of the Iranian election conventions to do what they did. They made it so blatantly obvious that even a blind man could sniff the air and say, “something smells rotten here.”

The votes have to be counted by hand, and it only took them an hour to make their announcement? I mean, come on people, what is this, amateur hour? If you can’t pull some shit like this off right, don’t even bother doing it at all; you’re just embarassing yourselves now.
