Update: I Get It

After an hour or so, and a quick visit to wikipedia, I finally got the joke. Apparently, Paul Erdos was a prolific mathematician who died back in 1996. He wrote a lot of articles, and definied a lot of things that I have little to no interest in.

What’s important to the joke - I assume - is that mathematicians have their own “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” with Paul Erdos. Assuming that the writer of XKCD is referencing this, he is trying to get his Erdos number down to 1 - making him a direct collaborator with Erdos - by getting his reanimated corpse to sign off on his mathematical formula.
